Supplemental Educational Services SES

Supplemental Education Services (SES) provides tutoring to eligible students free of charge as part of the No Child Left Behind legislation. Students, who enroll in an SES tutoring program, receive extra help with their reading, writing and math skills. Families have the option to choose from a list of Minnesota Department of Education approved providers. Your district Funded Programs Office has the list. When choosing a provider, please consider the needs of your family and child when deciding which providers to consider.

To receive free tutoring the following must be true:

  • A child must attend a school that has not made adequate yearly progress as defined under No Child Left Behind, for 3 or more consecutive years.
  • A child must also be eligible for free or reduced price lunches.
  • There must be room in the program otherwise participation will also be based on academic need.
